Numbers 16:24 (NIV)
24 "Say to the assembly, 'Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.'"
On verses 24-26: What can we learn from God telling the Israelites to move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram? Keep a distance from those who claim to be spiritual and who may even want to be leaders but who refuse to submit to their own God-chosen leaders. If you don't keep a safe distance away, you'll risk falling with them.
Numbers 16:33 (NIV)
33 They went down alive into the grave, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community.
On verses 31-33: That the earth swallowed up Korah, Dathan and Abiram and their descendants alive shows that when you refuse to submit to your God-chosen leaders, your life and destiny in God will be cut short.
Numbers 16:35 (NIV)
35 And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
On verse 35: The fact that God "fired" these 250 leaders who were offering incense shows that it doesn't matter to God what we offer or sacrifice to Him if our hearts are rebellious toward him.
Numbers 16 is a sobering reminder that God looks seriously at the way we obey, follow and submit to our God-given leaders. Our destiny depends on it!
