Numbers 2:1-2 (NIV)
1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 "The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting some distance from it, each man under his standard with the banners of his family."
Notice that when God instructs Moses and Aaron in Numbers 2 on how the Israelites should place themselves around the camp, God is very well organized and thoughtful in his instructions. He doesn't leave things to chance or say, "Whatever. We'll figure it out when we get there. Everybody just do as you feel like." Rather He plans ahead, counts what He has, and organizes them thoughtfully, and He urges Moses and Aaron to do the same.
What can we learn from this? Two things:
1. God is well organized. Whenever God does or creates anything, He does it with a great deal of care, thoughtfulness and order.
2. You be well organized too. When you take the time to be well organized, you'll be more effective, easier to follow as a leader, and you'll be living with more peace and less anxiety-producing chaos. So take the necessary time to organize yourself: whether it's your time, your talents, your team, your family, your finances, your responsibilities in the home or at the workplace, even your desk, your room or your car. It's hard to be effective when you're not organized!
Question: What is one area of your life where you need to be more organized?
Take the time to do so! You'll be glad and more effective because you did!
Heavenly Father, thank You for making us in Your image and giving us a capacity like Yours to be thoughtful, faithful, effective managers of what we have. May we organize ourselves well so that we can be used by You to the max. In Jesus' name, AMEN!
