Leviticus 25:10 (NIV)
10 Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan.
In Leviticus 25:8-22 describes how every 50th year the Israelites were to proclaim it a year of jubilee, where for an entire year all debts were forgiven and all the people could return home and be with their families. This year of Jubilee foreshadows the day that Jesus would come and "proclaim the year of the Lord's favour" (Isaiah 61:1-2; Luke 4:17-19).
Through Jesus, we can experience the year of Jubilee every day. That's because through Jesus all our debts are paid, all our sins forgiven, our honour is restored, and we are reunited with our Heavenly Father and our spiritual family. And all this not because we deserved it, but simply because of God's love, mercy and grace.
Praise God! We don't have to wait every 50 years for the year of Jubilee in order to be set free. We have someone much better the year of Jubilee: We have Jesus every day!
Thank You, Jesus, that through You all my sins are forgiven, my debts are paid, my honour restored, and I am brought close to my Heavenly Father and my spiritual family. Thank You Jesus for proclaiming the year of the Lord's favour on my life today and every day.
